Automate bank reconciliation
Bank reconciliation is the workflow most teams try to speed up with Excel first: a lookup here, a Power Query there, a rules tab that one person understands. It works until volume grows or that person is on leave. A runbook does the same matching every day, in the ledger, with a person approving only the lines that need judgment.
How it is done by hand today
- Export the bank statement and the ledger's cash account for the period.
- Match obvious pairs by amount and date, then chase the rest: fees, partial payments, timing differences, duplicates.
- Post adjusting entries for fees and interest, and write a note for each unmatched item.
- Repeat next period, usually from a copy of last period's spreadsheet.
What the runbook does
- Pulls the bank feed and the ledger lines every morning at 06:00.
- Matches on amount, date window and reference, then on learned rules for recurring fees and payouts.
- Posts routine adjustments under a threshold you set; anything above it waits for a named approver with the agent's reasoning attached.
- Writes every match, hold and posting to an append-only log you can export for audit.
What it costs you today
Count the hours per period across everyone who touches it, multiply by periods per year and a loaded hourly cost, then add rework on exceptions and the days the close waits. Most teams land between one and three work-months a year. We quantify it for you, free, in a week.
Questions we get
Is our bank data safe?
Read-only bank connections, encryption in transit and at rest, scoped to the accounts you connect, never used to train models.
Who owns the agent?
You do. It runs in your stack and keeps running without us.
How long until it is live?
Three to four weeks from kickoff, including a period running beside your team before it posts on its own.
